Content plan Template
One piece, thought through properly before a word of it gets written.
Four steps
How to print a content plan
- 1
Start from this form
Opens on the content plan: Working title, Date, Who is this for, and what will they be able to do after reading it, The single point, in one sentence and the rest.
- 2
Put your own heading on it
Replace "Content Planning Sheet" with a name, a business or a date range.
- 3
Set the row height
16 rows at 6 mm fits more in; 14 mm suits a form filled in by hand.
- 4
Print or save as PDF
The single point, in one sentence is the line to get right.
Who prints this
Anyone who writes a draft and then rewrites the whole thing once they work out what it was actually about.
The field that decides whether it works
The single point, in one sentence. If it needs two sentences it is two pieces, and finding that out now is what saves the rewrite.
Why it is laid out this way
The closing block asks what to leave out, and it is there because a plan that only ever collects material never gets any shorter. The structure table sits above it, so the cuts are made against something concrete.
What is on the sheet
5 sections, in this order: Working title, Date; Who is this for, and what will they be able to do after reading it; The single point, in one sentence; Structure; What to leave out. Set the row height anywhere between 6 and 14 mm across its 16 ruled rows, put your own heading at the top, and find the content plan alongside 3 other forms on the marketing planner page.
