Why this range, and why this layout
Tables are a recall task, not a method task, so the sheet is dense and horizontal: fifty questions a page, no working space, because there should not be any working. If a child needs room to work them out, they are not ready to be drilled yet.
Before you print this one
Understands multiplication as repeated addition. Drilling facts before the idea is in place produces children who can recite 7 x 8 and cannot tell you what it means.
On the layout
Time it, but only against their own last score. Tables respond to short, frequent, low stakes practice far better than to long sessions, and a sheet a day for a fortnight beats an hour on a Sunday.
When to move on
When the facts come back in under three seconds each, move to division. Division facts are the same facts read backwards, so the work is already done and it is mostly a matter of noticing that.
