Why this range, and why this layout
This is the first page here that stacks the numbers, and the layout is the lesson. Column addition only works if the units line up under the units, so the sheet is set out the way the method requires rather than the way the sum reads.
Before you print this one
Adding within 20 without counting, and knowing that the 4 in 46 means forty. Place value has to come before carrying or the carried digit is meaningless.
On the column layout
Fewer questions than the earlier sheets on purpose: twenty stacked sums is a long session for a seven year old, and carrying errors multiply when they are tired.
When to move on
Column addition is the foundation for long multiplication rather than for bigger addition, so the useful next step once carrying is secure is times tables, not four-digit sums.
